The Wedding Planning List: 1 Month Before the Big Day

STORIES (4)You are one month away from saying, “I do!” There are quite a few details to tackle and get taken care of before the big day. Breaking all of the steps down into smaller pieces helps to reduce the stress and make the wedding planning process more enjoyable. You want to create fond memories to look back on! Here are the steps you should take care of one month before the wedding day.

Apply for marriage license.
The process can take up to six days, but it’s a good idea to give yourself some leeway.  If you’re changing your name, order several copies. Your marriage license is something you will required to have at many different places including the social security office and financial institutions.

Bride: Have final gown fitting.
Bring your maid of honor along to learn how to bustle your dress.  For peace of mind, you may want to schedule a fitting the week of your wedding. You can always cancel if your dress fits perfectly.

Call all bridesmaids.
Make sure they have their gown ready for the big day and know the overall plan for the day. Your bridesmaids have many things going on in their personal lives too, so it is a good idea to call and follow up.

Order and plan in-room welcome baskets for out-of-town guests.
Your guests will appreciate the extra effort you put into creating welcome baskets.

Enter RSVPs into your guest-list database.
Many brides will choose to phone people who have not yet responded. This will give you a more concrete number of people attending to create your seating chart.

Mail rehearsal dinner invitations.
This will give your guests information including time, place, and proper attire if you are going to a specific restaurant. Usually the rehearsal dinner follows the wedding rehearsal, so if there are people attending your rehearsal dinner that are not attending the wedding rehearsal they have all of the information as well.

Send out as many final payments as you can.
Sending the payments out ahead of time will give you less to worry about on the wedding day.

Confirm times for hair and makeup with vendors.
Follow up about hair and makeup appointments. A change of plans in this area  is one less surprise to worry about on the wedding day.

Assign seating.
Draw out table shapes on a layout of the room.  Use pink sticky notes with names for females and blue sticky notes for males, that way you can easily move people without having to redraw the plan.
